I come from a very creative family and the joy of arts and craft has been passed unto me very naturally.

As I was a closed and timid child, paint and colour became instruments of healing that profoundly opened me to the world; a simple and almost magical tool through which I easily could communicate. Growing up I have discovered and nurtured this gift that I so eagerly desired to conquer.

The love of simple shapes has been formed in me by the little village in the country side where my roots are and where I currently live. My experience in Perù as a young adult marked a turning point in my life:
Seeing the poverty of the people I met there, I decided to preserve the love for their bold colours, letting it leave an imprint on my work, keeping the urge to understand who I was and what I needed in order to be happy. It was time to create some space for myself and listen to my soul.

Art is a bed to my mind, a rest to my emotions, and it drives me to seek a deeper meaning of things, the inner light, the perfect and the imperfect.

My style has become magical and dreamy, but it was gutted by academic teaching with its repetitive vision of reality. If I deal with architectural forms, I make them elastic and disconnected from the force of gravity, if I insert animals, they have an alchemistic meaning, symbolic and healing, and often there is the allusion of flight, lightness and change, with wavy lines that intersect against the background according to my mood. Even when there is a collision of emotions such as sorrow and pain, the creative process leaves me satisfied and fulfilled.

As I work, in some ways I need to become a child again. Escaping from the rigors of the "Elena adult" allows me to believe that nothing is impossible, and helps me materialize this concept on the canvas. The important thing is that my emotions find energy in creating, that my work is an act of love, first towards myself, then towards the observer. The intent is to transform what is going on inside of me towards the positive and solar. If I add figurative elements it is because the reality of the subject, or its movement or expression, gives the right scent, that note that I was looking for.

The acrylic can give the radiance oil quenches. Symbolically I never use black, but a mixture of lacquer that gives the same colour, if needed. Alternating the techniques of acrylic on wood with that of the currently preferred canvas, I sometimes divide the work into several canvases to make my work more alive and modern.
